My Birthday Experiment

Well, my birthday was exactly one week ago (:waves noisemaker pathetically:). Oh, alright- it wasn't that bad, that I had to provide my own background sound. But yeah, you know Facebook? My experiment was to make my birthday 'private' so only I could see it for about a week until my birthday. Then I made it public about one minute before I left for school. Thus my questions were answered- I hadn't really expected anyone at school to remember, and what do you know- they didn't. It's okay though. I got my answer, they got needled a bit, and the people that really matter remembered. Now, to take Driver's Ed...

Birthdays.

I'm so conflicted about these.
On the one hand- it's just simply nice.
...
...
...
I'm sure there are more reasons, that will hopefully be coming soon...

Why I don't like them:
They're awkward. Unpleasantly, uneasily, awkwardly awkward.
I get the requisite phone calls (from across the world, three or four countries, actually). I do not like phone calls; I mentioned it earlier. I severely dislike phone calls, because THEY ANNOY ME. I am painfully awkward over the phone, and when it's a giant mass happy birthday whoo call, I freeze a little and stammer thanks and all that stuff.

I get the cards, mailed in from again, all over the world. They are all always generic, with a signature and maybe a little message. Oh, wait- sometimes it's not even a card. I got an EMAIL as a happy birthday wish. Not an e-card, either, which might have been remotely close to passable. I got a lovely three-line email, signed 'The ------ family'. I thought it was a little substandard...but who am I to be vaguely affronted?

Cake-cutting. Let me just say it again. Cake-cutting.
:sigh:
Again, how must I put it...it's awkward. People sing (and 99 times out of 10 [quoting a teacher of mine!] they're out of tune, offkey, or both), you stand and smile and pose for the cameras (because there have to be cameras), and if you haven't picked out the cake yourself, it won't be to your taste.

I know this for a fact, since mine is today :]
I had a horridly surprising yet well-meaning surprise cake-cutting on Saturday with a picnic of family friends and- hold on. Wait.

Never mind. I like birthdays.

Commitment Issues

I think I have a hard time committing to things if I'm not super-interested in them.
I will edit this later- I have a major application for this amazing internship that I need to go finish!

Chatting About Precal- the epic love saga of two nerds.

Okay, so the title's sort of misleading. It's not a love saga so much as it is a huge pot of drama and side-long glances mixed in with a few over-analyzed texts and faux-death-threats.

My friend (let's call her K. I hadn't used my middle right finger for a while. I would've used 'I', but that would not have worked.) K liked this other guy (let's name him R! Left index finger time.) R. He, however, is a bit of a player (as much of a player as nerds can get -oh, ha ha ha.). Really though, he is/was/sort of. He chats up at least three girls, not including my friend, on a nearly daily basis.

Girl 1: she's actually already in a relationship- SHOCKER-. She is one of the two confirmed (nerd circle, again. Remember that.) couples we have. Oh wait- she's in the ONLY confirmed couple we have, since the other two broke up for some reason. Anyway, she's in a relationship. R knows her and the guy she's with. For some reason, he flirts with her all the time anyway. In front of him.

Girl 2: he supposedly really liked her, but...what can I say? He screwed it up. She has/had an on-off boyfriend, by the way, so I'm not sure whether he thought he actually had a chance or not. Anyway, (and this is from K who heard it from [apparently] Girl 1 who supposedly got it from R.), when he was trying to say 'I love talking to you', he said 'I love you'.
Understandably, she freaked out.

Girl 3: this isn't even really confirmed. He's just very talkative with her.

K: she finally asked him for help with precal homework. Eventually, she got his number and started texting and talking over Facebook. After his major ILY-screw-up, she tried to make him feel better, after which he indirectly called her a 'random person'. This made K 'not like him' anymore.
Despite this, when chatting with her, I used 'that you like him' in various different phrases, and she did not protest the tense.
Sadly, most of my friends have not matured mentally- they're going to get it bad in college.

Things I Don't Like AKA Hate

In no particular order:
Long fingernails.
Especially on guys. They look bad on girls too when girls don't do anything to them- in the sense that there's no polish, there's no design, there isn't really even cultivation; it's just growing. That's what looks disgusting to me. It's the same with toenails >_<
I myself almost never paint my fingernails, but I do always trim them. I occasionally paint my toenails.

THIS one really bugs me.
People who use 'yet' instead of 'but'.
I know a girl like this; she's in a lot of my classes, she was my science fair partner, and I think we're technically supposed to be friends [I mean...we are, but I don't really like her.], but she uses 'yet' in almost every sentence. Example: I think we should go to the mall, yet there could be people there.
The kicker is that I've never heard her use 'yet' properly ever, and I don't think I've ever heard her say 'but'.

FORGETTING THINGS.
Okay, that wasn't my actual dislike: I forgot this, and I had a really good one to put here too.

Replacement...replacement...let's go with phone calls.
I absolutely, positively detest phone calls. Everyone sounds weird on them, it's awkward as hell, and it's almost impossible to get off the call once you're talking.

Surprisingly not-screwed and with much to update.

Yep, that's me.
Martial arts (okay, just typed marital; so not cool) went alright. I haven't been for about a month due to various insane factors- and yeah, my sensei (teacher, for all you laymen) is really cool, but I'm freaking terrified of sparring. Mock-fighting. Whatever you want to call it, it's how my dojo (training place, 'gym', etc.) works about actual practice, in case one of us gets freaking mugged or something.
Gah. High school calls. I get the splendid joy of writing a Change and Continuity Over Time essay for AP World History, an algebra 2 quiz over logarithms, and I'm typing with one hand.
Later T_T

Alright, I lied- I'm back already, didn't you miss me?

What I've been doing: homework. What, did you expect me to say 'your mom'?
Homework, science fair [oh GOD traumatizing experience], social life [ha! once every few months, maybe.], but I've actually found that I am literally busy on the weekends. I am almost never at home except at night, because I'm oh- at this particular SAT prep class, or that lunch-party-thing at somebody's house, but yeah...
Homework- established.
What else I've been doing...ANIME. ANIMEANIMEANIMEANIMEANIME.
I have be freaking hooked on D.Gray-man. Apparently, colloquially known as '-man'. I'm not sure why. THIS IS AMAZING. As in, literally amazing. It shot to the top of my list of favorite animes- although to be fair, I love everything that I stick to. But since I haven't finished this, this is my current obsession- and when I say obsession, I sadly do mean that it is now encompassing a great deal of my free time. Twice now I have paused the anime episodes so I could write a one-shot fic, because I needed the specific dialogue.
Manga fans, don't worry...I'm reading it too- it's so much further on.
People I like/love in DGM: ALLEN. KANDA. LENALEE. LAVI. OTHERS TOO.
Which is basically the OT4.

Oh, crap, I actually do have to go now. Martial arts.
:gulp: again.
I'm screwed.

Hiatus much?

Oh, jeez, I fail...I fail SO, SO, badly :sweatdrop:
August? Really? That's literally before this school year started...and it's FEBRUARY now. I have SO much to blog about that it literally isn't funny.
Starting with...my friend's crush/love triangle, my own possible 'person-that-I-like', and school en generale. And yes, I'm such a nerd that not being able to get those accents on the French bugs me a ton.
But yes, I have beaucoup de things to do.
I'll be back on later tonight after martial arts :gulp: wish me luck...
